Thursday, July 14, 2022, Emmanuel Macron revived the tradition of the July 14 interview. The Head of State made some announcements about energy consumption, directly impacted by the war in Ukraine.
Thursday, July 14, the gardens of the Élysée Palace, in Paris, hosted the traditional interview of the President of the Republic. Immanuel Macron was pessimistic about the war in Ukraine: “You have to be prepared for it to last“, he thus declared. Russia has cut off its gas deliveries. Energy has therefore become a weapon of war according to the head of state. He wants to save it. “I am going to ask now (…) that we put ourselves in a position to consume less“, said Emmanuel Macron.
A sobriety plan will be presented at the start of the school year. The State will maintain its aid for fuels, but with more targeted mechanisms. The other message of the day from the president is the continuation of reforms, and in particular that of pensions. Immanuel Macron hopes that it will be done in the negotiation.
