What is the papillomavirus, which is linked to cancers? It is a virus that is asymptomatic and that is the whole point. This virus is responsible for two types of cancer, that of the cervix and ENT cancers. Vaccination has been recommended since 2007.

Possible catch-up vaccination

France is very late on this point compared to the objective of 60% vaccination coverage. This is 43.6%, with strong disparities. It is insufficient. In Australia, the authorities have almost succeeded in eradicating the papillomavirus and cervical cancer. Vaccination takes place before the first sexual intercourse. If this is not done at the start of sexual life, it is possible to have a catch-up vaccination, says doctor Gérald Kierzek.
