On the move in the Hautes-Alpes, Thursday March 30, Emmanuel Macron sketched out his “water plan”, which notably plans to reuse 10% of wastewater in 2030.

On the shores of Lake Serre-Ponçon, the largest freshwater reservoir in Western Europe, the Head of State came to sketch the main lines of the water plan. All sectors will be involved, with a first ambition. “I want to set a course for our nation with an objective for 2030 which is to save 10% of water in all sectors”declared Emmanuel Macron in particular.

180 million euros to reduce water leaks

In particular, an Ecowatt for water will be set up, on the model of that for energy, to raise public awareness. 180 million euros will also be devoted each year to reducing water leaks. Investments are also planned for nuclear power plants, which consume 12% of the water for their cooling system. Another objective: reuse 10% of wastewater in 2030, compared to just 1% today. A few days after the clashes in Sainte-Soline, Emmanuel Macron defended the establishment of basins, but conditioned to save water and pesticides. For water saving associations, the account is not there yet.
