The Elysée has made it a key date: the election of the presidency of the National Assembly, on July 18. The opportunity, according to Emmanuel Macron, to see how the Assembly is “structure“, as he stated on the evening of the second round of the early legislative elections. But, in the meantime, the head of state is trying to renew the link with his troops now led at the Palais Bourbon by Gabriel Attal, as group president.

According to our information, Emmanuel Macron is receiving them in small groups for lunch at the Elysée. These Renaissance deputies, who felt sacrificed when the head of state decided to dissolve the Assembly and who experienced the campaign as if they were serving as “cannon fodder”, the head of state is therefore trying to win them back. According to an advisor, Emmanuel Macron has understood: he really needs to change.

So, new invitations are launched after a lunch, Tuesday July 16, then a second Wednesday. For three hours, says a participant, Emmanuel Macron listened to them, before telling them that there are three years left to act… and to tackle those who are projecting themselves towards 2027. According to him, they will make their “misfortune“.

Emmanuel Macron does not utter the word “cohabitation”: he clings to the idea of an agreement, a pact. He also has no words of support for Yaël Braun-Pivet, the candidate of Gabriel Attal’s group, for the presidency of the National Assembly. For him, the same system is not the right message.

His entourage is making the election to the perch a test to see where the hemicycle is leaning. But, for all that, he is not giving any visibility, says a guest. General feeling: the Assembly will certainly structure itself, but nothing will happen before mid-September.
