A sterile and disturbing dialogue. Emmanuel Macron thinks that “The worse is yet to come” in Ukraine after his exchange with Vladimir Putin, who expressed “his great determination” to continue its offensive, the aim of which is “to take control” from all over the country, announced the Elysée, Thursday, March 3.
During an hour and a half telephone discussion, the Russian president told his French counterpart that the Russian army operation was developing “according to plan” planned by Moscow and that it was going “to worsen” if the Ukrainians do not accept its conditions, the presidency said.
It was Vladimir Putin who took the initiative for this exchange, the third since the start of the invasion on February 24, in order to“inform” Emanuel Macron”of the situation and its intentions within the framework of frank dialogue” between them, underlined the presidency.
The Kremlin affirmed for its part, at the end of this exchange, that Vladimir Putin had expressed his intention to pursue “without compromise” his offensive against “nationalists” in Ukraine.
During this meeting, the Russian President also expressed his “disagreement” with a speech the day before by Emmanuel Macron dedicated to Ukraine, and threatened to add “additional requirements” to its already long list of demands on Kiev for new talks.
During a speech devoted to Ukraine on Wednesday evening, the French president had insisted on the fact that “Russia is not attacked, it is the aggressor”. “This war is not a conflict between NATO and Russia.” and “Even less a fight against Nazism, it’s a lie”he said.
