“If we do not reform pensions, it will be less purchasing power”said Emmanuel Macron, Wednesday, October 26, on the set of “L’Evénement”, the political program of France 2. The President of the Republic intends to keep the course he had set for his government on this burning issue, for which the executive tries by all means to avoid a new recourse to 49.3.

Emmanuel Macron said to himself on Wednesday evening “open” a postponement of the legal retirement age to 64, and not 65, as he had promised during the presidential campaign, in the event of an extension of the contribution period.

“If some [partenaires sociaux] are ready to commit and say ‘We don’t want to go until 65 but, in return, if you make this gesture, we are ready to work a few more quarters’, I am openhe assured. The whole thing is that our model gets back on its feet, if I may say so, and that we, active people, finance the retirement of our retirees well”.
