The NFP representatives met with the president on Friday morning, August 23. Lucie Castets, their candidate, is ready for Matignon, while other names are circulating.
Emmanuel Macron and representatives of the New Popular Front (NFP) spoke for 1.5 hours on Friday, August 23. “We told him that it was up to the political force that came out on top, the New Popular Front, to form a government and then go and build coalitions (…) That is why I am ready today,” says Lucie Castets, NFP candidate for Prime Minister. The NFP, received first, promises that it will remain united, but remains wary of the head of state.
Part of the presidential camp, the right and the RN have announced that they will vote for a motion of censure against any government with ministers of La France insoumise. For Emmanuel Macron, the NFP cannot therefore guarantee stability. Xavier Bertrand, LR president of Hauts-de-France, the PS mayor of Saint-Ouen, Karim Bouamrane, and the former socialist Prime Minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, are the other names circulating for Matignon.
