The arrival of Jean Castex at the head of the RATP is becoming clearer. Emmanuel Macron chose Wednesday, October 19 his former Prime Minister to become the president and CEO of the RATP, according to the Elysée. This decision must be endorsed by the competent parliamentary committees. The High Authority for the transparency of public life issued a favorable opinion on this proposed appointment on Tuesday, five months after the departure of Jean Castex from Matignon.

The former head of government must therefore succeed Catherine Guillouard at the head of the RATP. The former president resigned after five years in office, and the group’s number two, Philippe Martin, retired on September 30.

Aged 57, the former head of government from July 3, 2020 to May 16, 2022 is a graduate of the ENA. Originally from Gers, he was also mayor of Prades, in the Pyrénées-Orientales. Passionate about trains, he had already chaired the Transport Infrastructure Financing Agency (Afit) since July. Before him and Catherine Guillouard, the current Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, was CEO of the RATP between 2015 and 2017.
