Emmanuel Macron promised, Friday, May 12, in an interview with the Voice of the North (article reserved for subscribers) of “fight until the last quarter of an hour for Valdunes”the last manufacturer in France of train wheels, let go last week by its Chinese shareholder.

The fight is morning, noon and night”he launched in this interview, granted after a visit to Dunkirk (North), where he announced huge foreign investments in electric batteries for a total of 6.7 billion euros. “It’s not because we are creating jobs on the side that we are not going to fight until the last quarter of an hour for Valdunes”he assured.
On May 5, the sole Chinese shareholder MA Steel, which acquired Valdunes in 2014 following a receivership, announced that it would no longer inject money into it. Its two French sites, located in Leffrinckoucke and Trith-Saint-Léger (North), employ 336 people.
