And first of all, the most emblematic measure, the abolition of land rights in Mayotte, which is plagued by very significant irregular immigration. This will be included in a constitutional bill that Emmanuel Macron will present to all local elected officials.

The mayors of the island, the president of the department, its vice-presidents, parliamentarians, including Estelle Youssouffa, Liot MP, who wants a strong signal from the government: “This ‘Mayotte law’ is a historic event and we must hope that the head of state and the executive will be up to the task, declares the chosen one.

The second bill must focus on four major themes: means to better control immigration, more law enforcement on the island, in the continuity of the major operations: Wuambushu and Place Nette. Accelerate the development of Mayotte by targeting young people and the health sector and finally modernize institutions.

Elected officials will have one month to amend this project and make new proposals. The government wants to maintain constant dialogue with elected officials so as not to repeat the mistakes of the past. The texts will be presented to the Council of Ministers in July for a debate in Parliament at the start of the school year.
