“We are waiting to see what form the inauguration will take. President Macron told us that there would be a somewhat lengthy discussion with the unions”said Laurence Marandola, farmer and spokesperson for the Peasant Confederation.

Laurence Marandola reaffirmed the determination of farmers and breeders to obtain better remuneration: “During the show and after the show, we will carry this message, this determination. And probably we will make visible this determination and this need for structural responses likely to really change the course of things”she said.

“It’s not another crisis”

Marc Fesneau declared on Sunday February 18 that the government was not going to shirk its responsibilities: “We share the word responsibility. We are at a turning point, not to say that we are completely in the wall. This is not yet another crisis. Everyone has taken stock of this for a month“, she says.

Prime Minister Gabriel Attal asked the prefects to meet farmers this weekend. “In certain departments, the prefects obviously saw fit to meet only the majority union”the FNSEA, “which is truly scandalous!”she lamented.
