Accompanied by German, Italian and Romanian leaders, on Thursday June 16, French President Emmanuel Macron visited Ukraine for the first time since the start of the war.

French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Council President Mario Draghi and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis came to kyiv (Ukraine) on Thursday June 16. In particular, they gave the green light to the Ukrainian candidacy to join the European Union.
This exceptional visit began on the evening of Wednesday June 15, with a ten-hour train journey from the Polish border in the greatest secrecy. This Thursday morning, the heads of state first went to Irpin (Ukraine), a martyr city in the suburbs of kyiv. Continued military support for Ukraine was also reaffirmed by European heads of state. France will notably send six new Caesar guns to kyiv.
