War between Israel and Hamas: Emmanuel Macron must visit the Hebrew state on Tuesday
Emmanuel Macron will in principle be in Israel on Tuesday October 24. – (France 2)
Emmanuel Macron will in principle be in Israel on Tuesday October 24.
The first challenge for Emmanuel Macron, who is due to go to Israel on Tuesday October 24, will be to not appear to be trailing behind other leaders from around the world who have already been there. Like US President Joe Biden, First British Minister Rishi Sunak, or even the German official, Olaf Scholz. Second issue: that this is not a trip for nothing. Emmanuel Macron wants useful solutions. This will be looked at very closely, to see if there are any results, particularly regarding the hostages.
Risk of regional conflagration
There are seven French hostages, probably, still held by Hamas. What will be considered very closely will be the result to fight against the regional conflagration. Emmanuel Macron could then go to Egypt, Lebanon or Ramallah. Then, what will also be scrutinized is his position on the aid that should reach Gazans. The President of the Republic will try to have a balanced position: denouncing the terrorist acts of Hamas while supporting the population Palestinian and by not appearing too aligned with the Israeli government.
