“Emmanuel Macron must stop acting like a refractory Gaul”castigated Marine Tondelier, national secretary of the Ecologists, on Sunday July 14 on France Inter, accusing the head of state of being in the “denial” the results of the legislative elections and wanting “organize a lot of possible scenarios to try not to have a Prime Minister from the New Popular Front.”

Meanwhile, negotiations seem to be slipping to the left on the designation of a candidate for the post of head of government. Marine Tondelier calls on all parties around the table to “to move”. “If we have the Insoumis who want an Insoumis, the socialists who want a socialist and Fabien Roussel and I who watch the balls go by like a Roland-Garros match, it’s not interesting”she adds. The head of the Ecologists points the finger at the attitude of the Socialist Party “who only put one name on the table”that of its First Secretary Olivier Faure. Marine Tondelier notes that in these negotiations “The Insoumis have taken more steps in the discussion”. “Now others must take other steps”she says.

She evokes “four criteria” for the future NFP candidate at Matignon: “competence and experience, building consensus within the New Popular Front, being sincerely aligned with the NFP program, and being able to calm the country”lists the national secretary of the Ecologists, saying she is open to a name from civil society. Marine Tondelier, on the other hand, is closing the door to the inclusion of possible left-leaning personalities from the presidential camp: “We are not going to create a government of ‘at the same time’, because we know where that has led us”she justifies.

While the deputies will have to elect the president of the National Assembly on July 18, as well as the allocation of key positions in the hemicycle, Marine Tondelier insists on the “hazard” that the National Rally represents. She recognizes that the far-right deputies, having “were elected by voters”, “have the legitimacy to sit in the Assembly”. She believes that they must “to have the positions to which they are entitled”but “no more”she insists. “Should we build them golden bridges, give them a leg up? That’s not right.”she adds.
