All morning of Thursday February 29, Emmanuel Macron reviewed the completion of the work on the Olympic village, surrounded by an audience of local elected officials. This area is intended to accommodate athletes during the Olympic Games (OG) from Paris. After the Olympics, the village must be able to accommodate 6,000 new inhabitants.
An additional cost linked to the war in Ukraine
In total, there are 82 new towers in the district. They straddle three municipalities of Seine-Saint-Denis, on the equivalent of 70 football fields. Towers which only took six years to emerge from the ground, and which will be connected to the Grand Paris metro. Despite this, the developer is having difficulty selling the apartments there, and is counting on“energy” Olympic Games to change the situation. The war in Ukraine led to additional construction costs of 140 million euros, due to the increase in the price of raw materials. The authorities now have four months left to refine and furnish the Olympic village.
