Emmanuel Macron in Lot-et-Garonne to unveil the map of 200 new gendarmerie brigades

Some brigades will be fixed, equipped with around ten gendarmes, but the majority will be mobile, with around six soldiers. Some 2,100 additional gendarme posts. The first brigades will be installed in November and their creation should last until 2027. In total, these creations represent 2,144 additional gendarme positions, out of the 8,500 creations of law enforcement personnel announced by the government. by the end of the five-year term.

Consultation with prefects. To select the sites concerned by the new brigades, criteria “economic, demographic and operational” (delinquency, burglary, domestic violence, etc.) were taken into account, explains the Elysée. The choices were made after several months of consultation with the prefects.
