Guest of “Political Questions”, the program of France Inter, franceinfo and Le Monde on Sunday January 30, the deputy of La France insoumise Adrien Quatennens described the action of the French president on the international scene as “gesticulation”.

Asked about France’s handling of the crisis in Ukraine and the threat of a Russian invasion, LFI deputy from the North Adrien Quatennens believes that Emmanuel Macron “looks a bit clownish in this case”. According to the coordinator of La France insoumise, support of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the Head of State “is also caught in a vice by its contradictions. (…) The role of France internationally under the presidency of Mr. Macron is gesticulation and it is close to zero”he assures.

For Adrien Quatennens, Emmanuel Macron “is entangled in his own contradictions: he stages his dialogue with Vladimir Putin for de-escalation and on the other, in particular because he has taken over the presidency of the European Council, he is in this logic of installing a European defense completely aligned with the United States”.

“As long as we are caught between two chairs, and without having the possibility of speaking independently, well, we do almost next to nothing.”

“For us, the logic is respect for international law under the aegis of the UN and that France speaks independently in the service of peace”specifies the deputy LFI.
