An official announcement after two years of waiting. The takeover by EDF of the nuclear activities of General Electric (GE) has finally been finalized, announced President Emmanuel Macron in an interview with the regional daily newspapers of the EBRA group, posted online on the evening of Thursday May 30. This recovery will be effective on Friday. “This May 31, EDF officially takes over the nuclear activities of General Electric and in particular the maintenance and manufacturing activities of Arabelle turbines”declared Emmanuel Macron. “The agreements concluded ensure the sustainability of this activity which is a real source of French pride,” he assures. Arabelle turbines are essential equipment for nuclear power plants.

The Head of State was eagerly awaited on this issue, after having announced this acquisition with great fanfare in February 2022, during his second presidential campaign. March 21th, several dozen employees of the nuclear branch of the General Electric company in Belfort, accompanied by local elected officials and political representatives, demonstrated in front of the prefecture of the Territoire de Belfort to denounce the uncertain situation of their company, due to lack of a signed agreement with the American group.
