Still a bit of suspense. On an official visit to Berlin (Germany), Monday May 9, Emmanuel Macron assured that he knew “of course” the name of the next Prime Minister, but refused to reveal his identity. “I’m not going to say it here, not now”he replied during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, when asked if he had made up his mind.
Questioned at the end of the last Council of Ministers, last Wednesday, Gabriel Attal had assured that “the Castex government [irait] at the end of Emmanuel Macron’s first five-year term, which ends on May 13 at midnight”. A statement which therefore ruled out any appointment of a new team by this date, while speculation is rife about the candidates to replace Jean Castex at Matignon.
“The government is at work to act, to protect the French, to take all the necessary decisions, and the time for individual decisions and appointments has not come. No proposal has been made to anyone on the matter. “said Gabriel Attal, still quoting the head of state.
