Visiting Prague (Czech Republic) on Tuesday March 5, the French president called on Ukraine’s allies to “don’t be cowardly” facing the powers “became unstoppable”. “War has returned to our soil, powers that have become unstoppable are expanding the threat every day” And “we will have to live up to History and the courage it implies”declared Emmanuel Macron during a speech to the French community.

Later in the day, Emmanuel Macron returned to his comments of Monday February 26. During a meeting in support of kyiv organized in Paris, he took the international community by surprise, saying he did not rule out sending Western troops to Ukraine. On Tuesday in Prague, he said “assume[er]” for having called for a “strategic surge” by raising this possibility, warning against “the spirit of defeat”, “who prowls”during a press conference with his Czech counterpart Petr Pavel.

“Is it our war or is it not our war? Can we turn away, consider that things can continue to play out? I don’t think so and so it’s a strategic surge that I called for and which I fully assume”insisted the French head of state, believing that “clarity” of his words was “what Europe needed”.

One of the objectives of this visit is to address, with the Czech president, the amount of Paris’ contribution to the Czech initiative aimed at purchasing ammunition outside the European Union, to then deliver them to Ukrainian soldiers.
