Emmanuel Macron called, Sunday June 30, for a “large gathering” against the National Rally in the second round of the legislative elections on July 7, and welcomed the expression of a “desire to clarify the political situation”He spoke in a written statement sent to AFP a few minutes after 8 p.m.

“Faced with the National Rally, the time has come for a broad, clearly democratic and republican gathering for the second round”writes the head of state in detail.

At the national level, the parties of the presidential camp ranked third, far behind the RN and ahead of the New Popular Front, according to an Ipsos-Talan estimate for France Télévisions, Radio France, France 24, RFI and LCP.

During a speech at Matignon,The Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, proclaimed that “Not a single vote should go to the National Rally” in the second round. “The lesson tonight is that the extreme right is at the gates of power.” The outgoing majority leader called for “withdrawal of our candidates whose retention in third position would have resulted in the election of a National Rally deputy over another candidate who, like us, defends the values ​​of the Republic”without specifying the number.
