Emmanuel Macron back in Roya 15 months after storm Alex

The State has already invested 572 million euros to rebuild the infrastructure of the three devastated valleys, but there is still a lot to do: this observation, Emmanuel Macron heard a lot from the mouths of elected officials during his visit to Tende, in Roya. On the President’s program: a stop on the road before the town to greet the workers who are working on the renovation of the bridges, before a meeting with mayors delighted to see him but who had a lot to tell him. That of Breil-sur-Roya in particular, Sébastien Olharan: We must not add an economic catastrophe to the climatic catastrophe that we have known. So we have to put in place measures to help companies which, because of the storm Alex, are still unable to work., either because their customers were in Piedmont and there is no longer access with the Tende tunnel, or because they made a living from tourism and attendance has collapsed. For all this there is nothing. “ The Tende tunnel precisely, another sensitive subject: several elected officials asked the French President to put pressure on the Italian authorities to speed up the work, in order to renew the road link with the transalpine neighbors.

Thanks, and a few questions from the inhabitants

After this interview with elected officials, the President greeted the police, rescue teams, volunteers who came to the aid of the population after the storm. Then he met locals who for many wanted to thank him. Even if some complained, René in particular, who has always lived in Tende: “There are more gendarmes than inhabitants today in Tende, it costs us money. It’s the President of the Republic so I agree, but let him do a little more things (…)mr president here there is no more hairdresser, no more pharmacy, i ask you to do something. “ Emmanuel Macron has promised to think about a device to support existing businesses, many, like the Fairy Capeline, which manufactures artisanal hats, have still not found their turnover before storm Alex.
