Emmanuel Macron announces new progressive water pricing

This is one of the key measures of the plan announced by Emmanuel Macron: the new progressive pricing of water. Traveling to Savines-le-Lac (Hautes-Alpes), Thursday, March 30, the Head of State announced that the first cubic meters deemed necessary to ensure essential needs will be invoiced at a modest price, close to the cost price, pto encourage the French to sobriety. Above a certain level, prices will increase.

Fight against waste

The President of the Republic announced another measure: the establishment of an ecowatt for water, on the model of what already exists for electricity. The government also intends to fight against waste. Nearly 180 million euros will thus be released to modernize the networks and prevent leaks. Another ambition is to increase the reuse of wastewater to 10% by 2030. The current threshold is increased to less than 1%. Finally, all sectors of activity are called upon to make savings.
