Emmanuel Macron affirmed, Tuesday March 19, in Marseille that “give in to any talk of defeat” faced with drug trafficking, at the start of a vast police operation which has already resulted in “more than 82 arrests and around sixty people in police custody” since Monday. For this “first operation”, baptized “XXL net square”the Head of State went to the city of Castellane, in the north of Marseille, a district where he had already visited in June as part of the follow-up of his “Marseille en grand” plan.

“There has been a historic investment by the nation alongside the Marseillaises and the Marseillais to succeed here in having stronger and resolute action”underlined Emmanuel Macron. “In several neighborhoods, we have deal points that have melted, which have reduced significantly,” he assured.

He specified that the people who were targeted as part of this operation “are very dangerous criminals and people who fueled delinquency in Marseille” adding that this work to combat drug trafficking will be continued “for several weeks in Marseille” and will then be launched “in around ten cities: metropolises or intermediate towns”.
