The Head of State announced that the health pass for these audiences would be conditioned, from December, to a booster dose. The Elysee then clarified that this measure would ultimately only concern seniors.

Will some French people lose their health pass from December 15? Emmanuel Macron announced on Tuesday, November 9, during his televised address, that the maintenance of the health pass would be conditional on the injection of a booster dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 for “the over 65s and the most fragile”. “If you were vaccinated more than six months ago, I call on you to protect yourself by making an appointment now”, did he declare.

Contacted by France Télévisions, the Elysée then clarified that the condition of a booster dose to continue to benefit from the health pass would only concern those over 65 years old. For people with co-morbidities, a simple “vaccination incentive” continues to apply.

Since September, the oldest and most fragile are eligible for a booster dose of vaccine, most often a “third dose”, provided that their vaccination dates back more than six months. The booster dose is intended to compensate for the loss of efficacy observed for all vaccines over time.

Emmanuel Macron also announced that everyone over 50 could benefit from this booster dose from next month. “More than 80% of people in intensive care are over 50 years old, which is why a recall campaign will be launched from the beginning of December for our compatriots aged 50 to 64”, he clarified.
