The France 2030 investment plan will devote 800 million euros to developing the robotics sector, Emmanuel Macron announced Monday, October 25, visiting the Siléane company in Saint-Etienne (Loire). Half of this envelope will be devoted to the manufacture of robots that integrate artificial intelligence.

The Head of State wishes, through these investments, to reindustrialize France with technologies “of tomorrow” and promote within five years an industrial sector combining manufacturing automation, artificial intelligence and connected objects. This strategy would also be a means of“avoid relocating to low-cost countries“, according to him. The 4.0 plant, capable of stopping its production on its own and reorienting it in the light of market demands, with promises of less painful working conditions than a conventional factory, is the holy grail of reindustrialisation post-Covid-19 European Union.

A first call for projects is planned in the coming days, as well as 400 million for “to support the transformation of industrial sites which are moving in a massive way towards intelligent machines”, specified the president. “We are going to help the deployment of a real industrial transformation which will make it possible to reindustrialize France, rather than looking at the solutions of 30 years ago.” “Nostalgia is not a good counselor”, said Emmanuel Macron.
