Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen deemed the most credible for improving purchasing power, according to our survey

According to an Ipsos – Sopra Steria survey carried out for France Télévisions and Radio France, however, these candidates only convince a third of French people when it comes to improving their purchasing power.

74% of French people believe that purchasing power has deteriorated over the past five years, according to the results of the Ipsos Sopra-Steria survey* for France Télévisions and Radio France on French people and purchasing power, posted Thursday, March 31. However, politicians can have a real influence on the level of purchasing power of the French, believe 71% of the French people questioned.

However, the presidential candidates do not really inspire confidence. Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen are seen as the candidates best placed to improve purchasing power, but they only convince 32% of French people. Jean-Luc Mélenchon is in third position, with 28% while Valérie Pécresse gets 22%. Fabien Roussel and Éric Zemmour inspire confidence in 16% of French people, Yannick Jadot 15% and Anne Hidalgo 12%.

In addition, the French are critical of Emmanuel Macron’s balance sheet: 63% believe that his action has mainly benefited the privileged categories. It is the price of energy (65%) and inflation (55%) that worry the French the most. Next come pensions (44%) and the level of taxes and duties (35%). They are 84% to fear a very significant increase in the prices of energy (84%), fuel (79%) and everyday consumer products (70%).

*Ipsos Sopra-Steria survey conducted for France Télévisions and Radio France on French people and purchasing power, published Thursday 31 March. It was carried out on March 25 and 26 via the Internet, with 992 people, constituting a representative sample of the French population aged 18 and over. The quota method was applied.
