The Laurentians Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSS) asks “the population with non-emergency health problems to opt for other solutions than going to the hospital”. The establishments concerned are the hospitals of Mont-Laurier, Saint-Eustache, Saint-Jérôme, Lachute, Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts and Rivière-Rouge.

At the Rivière-Rouge hospital, emergency services are also reduced from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. every day due to a lack of medical imaging personnel.

“People who are not seriously injured or ill must opt for solutions other than going to the hospital, such as Info-Santé 811, their family doctor, the GAP or the network of pharmacists”, indicates the CISSS by press release.

Laurentian hospital emergency rooms currently have an average occupancy rate of 165%, the worst result of any region in Quebec. Mont-Laurier hospital (280%) has the worst record, followed by Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts (178%), Saint-Jérôme (168%), Saint-Eustache (163%) and Lachute (138%). Only the service center in Rivière-Rouge shows a positive balance with an occupancy rate of 40%.
