(Sao Paulo) The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer announced Thursday a net loss of 70.8 million dollars in the first quarter of 2023, after a last quarter in the green last year, and despite an increase in turnover.
The world’s third-largest aircraft maker posted a net loss of $190 million in 2022.
First-quarter losses are larger this year than last year, when they were $31.7 million.
But Embraer also announced a 19% increase in its turnover compared to the first quarter of 2022 (717 million dollars, against 600.9 million a year ago).
This increase is due in particular to “solid growth in the defense sector (+56% over one year), as well as in services and maintenance (+20%)”, explained the company in a press release.
The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer delivered 15 aircraft in the first quarter, seven commercial and eight business jets.
