Only a week left before the French return to the polls to make their presidential choice. Just before this second ballot, Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen will have to face each other one last time on television, as part of the famous debate between the two rounds.
This debate being broadcast simultaneously on TF1 and France 2, we generally choose a journalist from each channel to present this new program as a duo. If it was finally Gilles Bouleau and Léa Salamé who were chosen, Anne-Sophie Lapix had meanwhile been dismissed directly. We note that the two candidates have indeed the right to put their veto on certain names. “Marine Le Pen does not want Anne-Sophie Lapix to lead the debate,” declared the president of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella. “She can’t hide her hostility towards Marine Le Pen each time she receives her… even Emmanuel Macron doesn’t want Anne-Sophie Lapix to take the debate” he added on the set of the show “L’Heure des pros”.
If Anne-Sophie Lapix, who recently risked her life in Ukraine, did not react to these assertions, several journalists and several relatives spoke on the subject to defend her. Starting with Delphine Ernotte, president of France Télévisions: “I am lucky to have an independent journalist, and no one will impose someone on me […] Critics only reinforce it.”
In an interview with Parisian, Gilles Bouleau and Léa Salamé gave their opinion on this decision. This is not what I perceived in the interviews that Anne-Sophie carried out… “That he has an opinion, OK. But that he declares it publicly, I find that a little more disturbing” declared the TF1 journalist.
For her part, Léa Salamé said: “It also bothered me. It’s not up to politicians to give journalists a good or a bad point on a TV set”. “She put herself in danger by agreeing to take part in this political program when she was not obliged to. In addition to being an excellent journalist, she is a courageous and upright woman. talked about this week,” she added.
