Elton John suffers ‘serious eye infection’ but is on the mend

The singer ended his long career in July 2023 in Stockholm, at the end of a tour of 330 concerts around the world.

Elton John announced on Tuesday, September 3, on his Instagram account, that he had suffered from a “serious eye infection”. This unfortunately left the immense pop star “with vision limited to one eye”The 77-year-old singer says he is doing better and is in the recovery phase, but the process is “extremely slow” and it will be necessary “a certain time” so that the affected eye can regain sight.

“I am very grateful to the excellent team of doctors and nurses and to my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last few weeks”added Elton John, who says he spent the summer recovering at home, “confident in his healing process” in view of the progress made so far.

July 8, 2023, in Stockholm, after more than half a century on the roads, Elton John had put an end to his long career. “Playing for you has been my reason for living, and you have been absolutely magnificent.”he had said to a delighted audience. He then concluded, in front of 30,000 fans from all over the world who came to bid him farewell in the Swedish capital, his final tour, Farewell Yellow Brick Road.

During this tourElton John performed 330 concerts, touring Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, playing to a total of 6.25 million fans.
