(Toronto) David Furnish says making a documentary about Elton John revealed things about his husband he didn’t know.
Toronto producer and co-director of Elton John: Never Too Latewhich premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday, says one of the most delightful surprises was found in a candid interview recorded in the mid-1970s.
In this interview, the singer of Benny and the Jetsnow 77, dreamed of becoming a father one day.
Furnish said those words surprised him, as the music legend was adamant at the start of their relationship in the early 1990s that he didn’t want children, fearing his fame would make him an unfit father.
John eventually changed his mind, and he and Furnish had two boys with the help of a surrogate.
Elton John: Never Too Late traces the early, successful years of John’s career, during which he released 11 albums in just over five years.
