In December 2000, Elodie Gossuin’s life was turned upside down. That year, she was elected Miss France 2001 at the age of 19. Overnight, she was propelled under the gaze of all French people by multiplying public and television appearances. And that was no small feat.
During its passage on the waves of RTL in the emission We redo the TVwhich will be broadcast on Saturday September 24 but an extract of which has already been shared by our colleagues from Entertainment TV, the wife of Bertrand Lacherie confided to having had a lot of difficulties to impose herself at her beginnings and to be taken seriously. According to her, she was seen as “a mental stay which it was necessary to spare by Christian charity“. An erroneous vision that she still regrets today: “It’s a bit like the flip side of the Miss France image medal. I rubbed shoulders with many people from television or show business with totally inappropriate thoughts by belittling you, by emitting lots of innuendos, because Miss and 20 years old and woman“. His observation is then necessarily unflattering. “You have the impression that apart from putting on pumps, a swimsuit, parading, you shouldn’t open your mouth“, she said.
The worst being, according to her, having to go through this period at such a young age and to face personalities that are not always understanding. “Jdo Marc-Olivier Fogiel on France 3. Éread Miss France 48 hours before, you are 20 years old, you discover the media. Whenever I said something, he replied: ‘It’s good Miss France, you learned your lesson well‘”, she recalled, admitting to having it “very bad” lived “pbecause you have the feeling, that whatever you say, whatever you do, you will not be taken seriously“.
With hindsight, however, Elodie Gossuin has no grudge against the general manager of BFMTV: “It’s not mean, because he has his role too. But it does not matter, because I chose to be Miss France, I chose to participate in this competition. I fully assume“. The pretty blonde simply grieves and “find it very stupid“that it is only at 41 that she now feels”respected and legit“.
