If some were wondering what great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II is to her great-grandchildren, just take a look at her apartments to find out. It was during a hearing held in her office at Windsor Castle that the 95-year-old monarch unwittingly unveiled a family cliché full of tenderness that did not escape fans of the royal family.
On Wednesday December 9, Queen Elizabeth II met with organist Thomas Trotter and decorated him with the Queen’s Medal for Music. During this meeting, the nonagenarian, who is still on her 31st, put her handbag on a chest of drawers on which was a framed photo.
In said shot, we see the Queen of England seated near her late husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, smiling and surrounded by their great-grandchildren. According to the English-speaking press, we can see Prince George, his little sister Princess Charlotte, who sits on the queen’s lap, Isla and Savannah, the daughters of Peter Philips (Princess Anne’s son) and Mia, Zara and Mike Tindall’s daughter.
The photo appears to have been taken in 2016, as Prince William and Kate Middleton’s daughter is still just a baby. Since then, the family has continued to grow! The happy great-grandmother also attended a few weeks ago the baptism of August Brooksbank (9 months), the son of Princess Eugenie, and Lucas Tindall (8 months), the son of Zara and Mike Tindall. The religious ceremony took place in the All Saints Chapel, located in the grounds of the Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park (Berkshire).
Although the queen made the trip for this event, she is still forced to rest and is closely watched by her doctors. Since her hospitalization and her exit with a cane, which greatly worried the British, Elizabeth II takes care of herself and rarely goes out. A true workaholic, she continues to keep her commitments but from home, where she receives visitors. She also gives video conferences from her office.
