The Jubilee is coming! From this Thursday and until Sunday, Queen Elizabeth II is in the spotlight throughout the United Kingdom: the sovereign is preparing to celebrate her 70 years of reign. A huge event that will bring together all the British, but above all… the royal family, almost in full force, who will have to follow a busy program!
If the celebrations start on Thursday morning, with the start of the Trooping the Color parade, not all will appear on the balcony. Queen Elizabeth, wanting to avoid a reminder of the various scandals that have marred the crown in recent years (the Prince Andrew affair, the sensational departure of Prince Harry, the interview with Oprah Winfrey, etc.), has decided that only working family members would be present.
There will therefore be three of the Queen’s children: Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Princess Anne and her husband, Timothy Laurence, as well as Prince Edward and his wife Sophie. Prince William and his wife Kate will also be present, along with their children, George, Charlotte and Louis of Cambridge. On the other hand, there is no question for Prince Andrew or Prince Harry to appear with their families.
The queen, present or absent?
But both should be present the next day, during the traditional mass. All family members will be invited there, and we should therefore find Prince Harry and his wife Meghan there, who are making their comeback in the United Kingdom, they who had left the country in October 2019 with a bang, straining his relationship with his brother William. Their cousins Zara Tindall, Peter Philips, Eugenie and Beatrice of York should also be present.
The royal family will also be received for a reception at London Town Hall. On Saturday, a big party should bring together some of the members of the royal family and many artists such as the group Duran Duran or Diana Ross. However, Prince William and his brother will surely not be present this time: the eldest and his wife will be traveling to Wales, as for the youngest, he will celebrate the first birthday of his little Lilibet with his family.
The little girl should also meet the Queen for the first time on this occasion. However, this is the big unknown of the weekend: will Elizabeth II be able to be present at all the events? Her team recently explained that since things are not certain, the sovereign will be announced a few hours before each stage of this jubilee. And we hope she can make a majority!
