Elizabeth II 1926-2022 | Justin Trudeau meets several of his counterparts in London

(London) Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met his British counterpart on Sunday as world leaders converged on London for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on Monday.

Mr. Trudeau was at “10 Downing Street” in the early afternoon, where he met Liz Truss.

He was seen arriving shortly after 1 p.m. and leaving about 40 minutes later.

In the morning, Mr. Trudeau had met Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in a London hotel.

Justin Trudeau said they were meeting for a moment of “reflection and condolence”, but that the two leaders also had important issues to discuss. The current war in Ukraine was high on the meeting’s agenda.

“The UK and Canada have been two of Ukraine’s strongest supporters. We stood to curb the illegal actions of Russia which is increasingly committing war crimes,” Trudeau said.

He wants Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin, to be held accountable for the mass crimes committed on Ukrainian soil since the start of the invasion.

“Vladimir Putin, his supporters and the Russian military must be held accountable for the atrocities that have been committed and continue to be committed in Ukraine,” added Mr. Trudeau.

The Canadian Prime Minister and Mr.me Truss also discussed the inflationary spiral and Canada-UK free trade negotiations

The meeting between Mr. Trudeau and Mr. Albanese took place in a hotel in London. Justin Trudeau hinted that the meeting would include discussions on climate change, geopolitical issues and economic growth.

The Canadian Prime Minister will join United States President Joe Biden and other world leaders at a reception hosted by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace in the evening.

He will end his day by meeting the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Chmyhal.
