Elite J11: a Limoges CSP without solution tilts in Orléans

Limoges CSP logically lost Friday night in Orleans at the opening of the 11th day of the French basketball championship 80 to 65.

The encounter :

After a good start, Limoges CSP deprived of its captain Nicolas Lang led 19 to 10. But the exit after two quick faults from pivot Grismay Paumier coincided with the return of a team from Orléans which had become more incisive on both sides of the floor. and logically ahead at the break 47 to 37. In the second half, the Orleans players immediately worsened the score before managing their advantage against Limougeauds without a solution and logically beaten 80 to 65.

The fit player: Demonte Harper was too lonely

The US combo was not unworthy on Friday night with 17 points, 5 assists, 5 interceptions for a round 22 evaluation in 33 minutes. If CJ Massinburg also contributed with 14 points, Harper seemed too lonely in the absence of Nicolas Lang for Limoges to win in Orléans.

The day without: Gerry Blakes pushed too hard

For his first official match with Limoges CSP, Gerry Blakes was very far from the expected performance. Beyond his shooting failures (1 out of 6), he especially forced too much without achieving his ends. Not illogical either for an element supposed to make individual differences but it will have to find its place within the collective. And find the rhythm too.

The declaration: the big anger of Cancellieri

At the end of the match there was no need to ask Massimo Cancellieri a question. The Limoges CSP coach has his anger to speak: “we didn’t play together. In defense, we got down to it in the last 2 quarters. But that’s not enough when in attack you have 4 players around who aren’t playing with you. Why did it happen? First because Nico was missing. He’s one of the most important players we have. But that shouldn’t be an excuse. We have good players and they have to prove that they can play without Nicolas Lang. But we didn’t. We didn’t do anything. We were afraid. Where’s the team? I can’t accept that because my responsibility is to make them play together. When it’s not easy, we also have to play together. I cannot accept that we do not build anything. That we do not share and that we do not pass the ball. We started the match by being very soft. And when they realized it would be hard, they gave up! I am angry with my team and with myself. Because if we come here and the team play like shit, I have to say it’s my fault. Honestly, basketball is not fun when my team plays like this“.
