The France Télévisions teams followed a candidate during all the selection stages, in the hope of integrating the BRI, the elite unit that returned to the Bataclan to confront the terrorists on November 13, 2015.

At the Bataclan, they were on the front line. Anti-terrorist fight, surveillance, dangerous situations… To join the BRI, the Research and Intervention Brigade, candidates are subjected to extraordinary physical and psychological tests. How are they selected? The France Télévisions teams followed a candidate during his selection process. In one week of testing, candidates must pass 35 tests. The instructors test resistance to the test, but also to pressure.

“It reveals our personalities”

Among the people present to evaluate the applicants, a psychologist is on site. Every gesture can reveal a state of stress. After five days of testing and sleepless nights, the candidate, who had prepared for a year, is exhausted. “It reveals our personalities, and I think that’s also the goal of the exercise”, he confides. Selected alongside eight other candidates, the police officer will also have to successfully complete his immersion course to join the BRI.
