It’s the end of a suspense. Emmanuel Macron renewed, Monday evening July 17, his confidence in Elisabeth Borne. The head of government has promised adjustments to her ministers, and must make proposals this week to the head of state.
He had greeted her formally, during the July 14 parade. He officially renews her as head of government. Elisabeth Borne therefore remains Prime Minister, with several arguments presented Monday evening July 17 by the Élysée. Unsurprisingly in the National Assembly, Tuesday morning, the opposition denounced this status quo at the head of the government. “He had a choice to make between talking to his right wing or talking to his left wing. He keeps this team made of odds and ends, with 11 49-3 in the National Assembly, with texts that pass in difficulty , with extremely important text reports”believes Pierre-Henri Dumont, MP (LR) for Pas-de-Calais.
Other ministers are in the hot seat
Elisabeth Borne remains at Matignon, but with which team? The Prime Minister will propose adjustments rather than a reshuffle. Marlène Schiappa, weakened by the affair of the Marianne fund, seems the most threatened within the outgoing government. But other ministers, such as Pap Ndiaye, whose education record is disputed, are in the hot seat. One certainty: Emmanuel Macron must speak by the end of the week. Tuesday evening July 18, he receives at the Elysée all the ministers with their spouses for some of them. It will therefore be a starting pot.
