Under the boos of the opposition, Elisabeth Borne engaged, Thursday, March 16 in the National Assembly, the responsibility of her government on the pension reform. It thus used Article 49.3 of the Constitution, which allows adoption of the text without a vote of the National Assembly. “Today, on the text of the Parliament, uncertainty hangs over a few votes. We cannot take the risk of seeing 175 hours of parliamentary debate collapse. We cannot take the risk of seeing the compromise built by the two Assemblies, dismissed. We cannot bet on the future of our pensions, and this reform is necessary”justified the Prime Minister at the start of the session in the hemicycle.

According to article 49.3, the bill on which the government engages its responsibility “is considered adopted, unless a motion of censure, tabled within 24 hours, is voted”. Opponents of the pension reform project therefore have until Friday, March 17 in the afternoon to table one or more motions, which should be debated at the beginning of next week. “A vote will take place”commented again Elisabeth Borne, who does not “don’t doubt” that several motions will be tabled against the government.
