The Prime Minister responded on Tuesday to the patroness of the Green MPs, who challenged her on the examination of the proposal of the centrist group, aimed at repealing the postponement of the retirement age from 62 to 64 years.

“Until the end, we will defend reality against demagoguery and the Constitution against those who question it”, cracked Elisabeth Borne, during the session of questions to the government at the National Assembly, Tuesday, May 30. Asked about Yaël Braun-Pivet’s about-face about the admissibility of the Liot bill aimed at returning to 62, the Prime Minister denounced the demagoguery of the opposition.

“We do not defend the institutions with unconstitutional bills. We do not lie to the French by carrying, with the greatest demagogy, a text which everyone knows here, for good, that it would be censored by the Constitutional Council if he was coming to the end of his parliamentary journey”she said.

A bill deemed “admissible”

Shortly after, the Minister of Labour, Olivier Dussopt, sharply replied to Charles de Courson, deputy of the Liot group, considering that with this text, he “could never again come to this hemicycle and learnedly lecture on public finances”. “Mr. Deputy for Courson, how do you feel when the National Front and LFI stand up to support you in an admirable identity and extremist pincer movement?”he launched.

Earlier in the day, Eric Coquerel, LFI deputy and chairman of the finance committee, had deemed the Liot bill “admissible”, attracting the wrath of the majority.
