Elisa De Almeida borrowed, Eugénie Le Sommer powerless … The notes of the Blue after the defeat against the Matildas

The France team concluded its preparation for the World Cup with a defeat against the Australian co-host (1-0) on Friday.

Nine days before their entry into the running at the World Cup against Jamaica, Hervé Renard’s Bleues conceded their first defeat of the year against the Australians, largely supported by the 50,000 spectators present in Melbourne (1- 0), Friday, July 14. The defense was roughed up for the first forty-five minutes, and took a strike from Mary Fowler (66th) after the exit of Elisa De Almeida, Achilles heel of the Blue. Regularly in a striking position, Selma Bacha left her partners through injury at the end of the match.

Pauline Peyraud-Magnin: 5.5/10

At Marvel Stadium, the guardian of the French galaxy postponed the deadline for an hour. Reassuring in the first period thanks to her good reading of the game while her partners were suffering, the Turin door could do nothing to prevent the opening of the score from Mary Fowler, alone at six meters (66th).

Maelle Lakrar: 5.5/10

For his fourth selection, the side exerted high pressure to hinder Australian raises. A new clean copy which should enable it to ensure its place in the eleven type of Hervé Renard during the competition.

Elisa DeAlmeida: 3/10

The only news from the game in Ireland, Elisa De Almeida missed a great opportunity to score points. Uninspired by the image of a perilous pass back to her goalkeeper when she had just offered an opportunity by missing a tackle (2nd), the Parisian has always been a step behind the formidable Sam Kerr. Replaced at the break by Estelle Cascarino, more serene but guilty on goal (4.5/10).

Wendie Fox: 4/10

Not helped by De Almeida in hinge, the captain was content to multiply clearances to relieve the tricolor defense. Wendie Renard can however consider herself happy that Pauline Peyraud-Magnin intervened in the face of a Caitlin Foord who had just played her in the area (26th).

Sakina Karchaoui: 4.5/10

Not there to defend his lane on the counter which brought the Aussie goal (66th), Sakina Karchaoui was more interesting in attack thanks to his ability to center well. Replaced by Vicki Becho, who honored her first selection (80th).

Grace Geyoro: 4.5/10

It took little for Grace Geyoro not to give the advantage to the Blue. At the origin and at the conclusion of the main French opportunity, the midfielder saw its recovery of the right diverted by a defender of the Matildas (20th). Apart from that, she has only too rarely weighed in the midfield.

Sandie Toletti: 5/10

The Real Madrid player allowed Hervé Renard’s team to recover good balls in the first period, before fading slightly during the restart. Replaced by Naomie Feller at the end of the match (89th).

Kenza Dali: 5.5/10

Despite a regular lack of precision, observed on his long openings as on his first attempt (4th), Kenza Dali stood out for his activity at the heart of the game. Replaced by Léa Le Garrec (80th).

Kadidiatou Diani: 3.5/10

It was the second time in its history that the French women’s team performed in front of such an audience and it did not really succeed for the former Parisian. Two small strikes countered (4th, 34th) and then nothing. Replaced by Clara Matéo, not really more in sight (72nd).

Eugenie Le Sommer: 5/10

Jostled in the opposing area, the top scorer of the France team should logically have obtained a penalty (58th). If she never found herself in a striking position, she was useful with her deviations and shifts.

Selma Bacha: 5/10

On July 14, Selma Bacha had everything to turn into a national heroine. But if the Lyonnaise fired a lot, the fireworks turned into a wet firecracker as the match progressed. Hit in the ankle, the young Frenchwoman left on a stretcher, in tears.
