Quebecer Eliot Grondin earned his first podium of the season with a second place in the Snowboard World Cup competition held on Saturday in Breuil, Italy.
In the grand final, Grondin was only beaten by the Austrian Jakob Dusek. Spaniard Lucas Eguibar finished third, ahead of Australian Cameron Bolton.
After placing second in his series in the round of 16, the athlete from Saite-Marie-de-Beauce won his races in the quarter-finals and semi-finals.
In the general classification of the World Cup, after three stages, Grondin totals 109 points which leaves him in fourth place.
Austria’s Alessandro Haemmerle leads the standings with 245 points, 79 more than Dusek. American Nick Baumgartner is third with 140.
On the women’s side, Canada’s Tess Critchlow finished third in the small final, placing her seventh in the final standings.
Italian Michela Moioli won the competition.
