Cold alert. Météo France places, Thursday, March 31, nine new departments in orange vigilance for risks of snow and ice. After Nord and Pas-de-Calais, Somme, Seine-Maritime, Eure, Calvados, Orne, Creuse, Loire, Puy-de-Dôme and Haute-Loire are now concerned by this vigilance. Eleven departments in total are therefore on alert.

A few flakes or sleet showers have already appeared north of the Loire as well as on the heights of the Massif Central. The improvement will be gradual from east to west from the end of Friday morning, specifies Météo France. On the west of Normandy it will be necessary to wait for the evening to see the snow showers move away completely. Over the episode, the expected accumulations are of the order of 3 to 5 cm, with locally about ten cm.

At the same time, in the north and east of the Massif Central, precipitation will occur in the form of snow at lower and lower altitudes. From the middle of the night from Thursday to Friday and a large part of the day on Friday it will snow from 300 m altitude. All these snowfalls will be accompanied by a wind clearly accentuating the feeling of cold.
