Among the novelties that will be presented at the Montreal Electric Vehicle Show (SVEM) from April 22 to 24, the Cadillac Lyriq is likely to attract many curious people.
This first 100% electric model marketed by Cadillac initiates a shift towards electrification that will grow enormously in the coming years. Cadillac promises that it will offer a lineup of all-electric models by 2030.
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will start at $69,898 in Canada, including a $2,200 destination fee. Despite its utility vehicle looks, only a rear-wheel-drive version is on the menu. Cadillac, however, assures that a four-wheel-drive performance version will eventually be added to the lineup. For now, we’ll have to make do with the 340 horsepower and 325 lb-ft developed by the two-wheel-drive Cadillac.
Equipped with a battery of around 100 kWh, the Cadillac Lyriq will allow a range of around 480 kilometers according to the manufacturer. However, the official figure has not yet been announced by Natural Resources Canada.
A whole design
One thing is certain, the Cadillac Lyriq will not go unnoticed on the road. Its enormous illuminated frontage and its receding line make it easy to distinguish. A refreshing strategy in a world where several vehicles from different brands look very similar.
Inside, the Lyriq incorporates a huge 33-inch curved screen that is reminiscent of that of the Cadillac Escalade. The Lyriq will also be available with the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system.
Many new things to discover
The Cadillac Lyriq will be one of the many new electric models that will be presented as part of the SVEM at the Olympic Stadium. General Motors will also present the GMC Hummer EV as well as the Ultium platform from which its new electric vehicles are built.
Other models like the Ford F-150 Lightning, Subaru Solterra, Toyota bZ4X and Kia EV6 will be present.
