After months of waiting, Volvo has lifted the veil on a model accompanied by a wind of optimism for a manufacturer whose range is struggling to evolve to the rhythm of a better off competition. Here is the EX90, which, as its name suggests, becomes the electric counterpart of the mid-size XC90 SUV.
The stylistic parallels between the two models are thus undeniable, but the sealed grille and the hammerhead optics expose notable differences in the treatment. The taillights no longer cascade entirely along the rear pillars and fenders, a break with the automaker’s latest SUV and wagon designs.

The technical presentation of the EX90 remains limited for the moment. We know that it is built on a new platform and will be offered from the beginning of 2024 in a two-engine version that together produces a total of 496 hp. The estimated range is 480 km, drawn from a 111 kWh battery. Ultra-fast charging allows you to increase from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes, to a maximum charging power of 250 kW.

As with any self-respecting Volvo, the focus is also on safety. The EX90 will be equipped with a state-of-the-art security shield developed with the NVIDIA company and consisting of a camera, radars and laser distance detection. This system opens the way to the possibility of incorporating autonomous driving into the SUV, says Volvo. We will probably have more details about this newcomer in the coming months.
