The city of Sedan in the Ardennes has equipped its cleaning agents with two electric scooters specially designed to clean its streets. A way to promote soft mobility and optimize urban cleaning #IlsOntLaSolution

It is a source of great pride for Sedan in the Ardennes. The city is the first in the Champagne-Ardenne region to equip its cleaners with two five-wheeled electric scooters, equipped with a seat. An environmental approach that also promotes employee comfort.

With their seat, their indicators and reflective panel, their container and broom holder, these new vehicles have everything to please. From now on, it is on the handlebars of one of these specially equipped electric scooters that the cleaning agents will fulfill their mission with the key, saving time and effort. Until now, municipal employees could indeed walk up to 12 kilometers of Sedan streets, often uphill. Other advantages of these electric machines: now, selective sorting will be possible.

Because until now, the waste collected on the public highway was not sorted in Sedan. From now on, agents will be able to do so thanks to the double flow container attached to their scooters. “In the translucent yellow bag, recoverable materials, in the completely translucent one, non-recoverable materials”, explains Sébastien Bluez, operations officer at Suez, a company responsible for urban cleanliness in Sedan. A largely positive operation for the city: of the 500 tons of waste collected each year, sixty tons can be recycled.

And Sedan goes further in its ecological approach: the municipality has just acquired a small truck and electric brush cutters. Enough to make the city really cleaner.
