The German brand BMW has revised upwards last week the estimated autonomy of its new electric models i4 and iX in anticipation of their marketing on the Canadian market.

The i4 compact sedan could thus travel 484 km in the two-wheel drive version of 335 hp eDrive40, a slight gain of 9 km compared to what had previously been announced. However, you have to stick to 18-inch wheels to hope to achieve this autonomy.
The 535 hp eDrive50 in all-red livery sees its estimated range increased from 385 km to 435 km. A significant gain, once again only possible with the standard 19-inch wheels. These figures, as convincing as they are, cannot for the moment bother the Tesla Model 3 Long Range, theoretically capable of driving 538 km before having to stop for a recharge.
As for the mid-size SUV iX, which has a size similar to that of the X5 and which is only offered with all-wheel drive, the progress is even more appreciable for the mid-range xDrive50 livery. Autonomy thus increases from the previously advanced 475 km to 521 km (with 20-inch rims). The entry version xDrive40 however remains uncompetitive with an estimated 322 km and the most powerful iX M60 version of 610 hp will have the capacity to venture over 450 km on average. Figures slightly behind the pioneering competitor of Tesla, the Model X.
The i4 will arrive on the Canadian market in February with a starting price of $57,942, while the iX will be offered next summer for a disbursement of $82,792 for the standard livery.
