While sales of all-electric models in 2022 are expected to be between 240,000 and 245,000 units, a “big jump” is expected next year so that at least 400,000 models could be sold, Mr Peter said. during a conference call.

This would amount to increasing the share of sales of all-electric models in total sales from 10% in 2022 to around 15% next year.

It can count on strong demand for its electric vehicles, ranging from the iX and iX1 SUVs to the luxurious i7 limousine.

Like its rivals, BMW has faced semiconductor shortages and pandemic-related supply chain disruptions that have slowed production of electric vehicles.

The manufacturer, an electric pioneer with its i3 but which has since fallen behind the competition, intends to achieve 50% of its global sales in electric cars by 2030.
