Clément Beaune, Minister Delegate for Transport and Deputy for Paris, was the guest of “8:30 a.m. franceinfo”, Friday September 23, 2022. Electric car, toll rates, energy crisis… He answers questions from Neila Latrous and Lorrain Sénéchal .

Electric car at 100 euros per month: a measure “complicated to implement” work”

To accelerate the ecological transition and decarbonize modes of transport, the Head of State proposed, during the presidential campaign, that the French who need it most could rent an electric car at 100 euros per month. “This measure is very important. It is complicated to implement, I will be very frank. Why? Because we must also create an industrial sector, or encourage an industrial production sector and charging stations“, explains the minister.

Toll rates “will undoubtedly increase”

“It will undoubtedly increase”, estimated the Minister Delegate for Transport about the tariffs of motorway tolls. But this increase must be “within reason”. The Minister wanted to set the limits of this increase: “I cannot tell you the figure today. We are discussing it, but we will not be in the orders of magnitude of 7 or 8% because we cannot impose that on the power of purchase of motorists at the moment”underlines the Minister.

Energy crisis: “We are not going to ban people from charging their electric vehicle”

On Wednesday 21 September, the manager of the electricity transmission network (RTE) raised the possibility of “to shift” charging electric vehicles for individuals in the event of a red alert on the Ecowatt system set up by the manager. “We are not going to ban people from charging their electric vehicle”, explains Transport Minister Clément Beaune. RTE even proposed to cut off access to these charging stations in the car park of office buildings and to free access stations between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., a time slot subject to a peak in energy consumption.
